Conceptual blending
Developed by Gilles Fauconnier and Mark Turner over the past ten years, the theory of Conceptual Blending is still gaining momentum, not only as a serious alternative to Conceptual Metaphor Theory but also in a wide range of other applications. Publications applying this attractive framework to date have been predominantly of US provenance, but we suspect that there is a lot of work going on beneath the surface, as it were, in Europe and elsewhere. This theme session aims to encourage researchers to present their conceptual-blending work. Theoretical and methodological papers are just as welcome as practical applications and informed criticism.
